Following GINN’s recent market‑insights visit to Lebanon, led by our Director Shem Baldeosingh, we continue to learn from frontline experts who see the realities of nicotine use, smoking, and harm reduction every day.
This week, Dr Vera Matta (@dr.veramatta), a respected clinician and public health communicator, highlighted an important point while reviewing REBEL White Slim Nicotine Pouches:
“Even on this product—which we mentioned is smokeless nicotine—it is written that this product is harmful to health and causes addiction, because nicotine is nicotine, whether we chew it, use it as a patch, or smoke it. This could be used as part of treatment to help quit smoking.” Her observation reinforces a key theme from our Lebanon visit: people are seeking clearer information, consistent labelling, and practical pathways away from combustible tobacco.
Cigarettes remain the most harmful and addictive form of nicotine delivery.
Smokeless, non‑combustible products—while not risk‑free—remove smoke, tar, and carbon monoxide, the primary drivers of disease.
Many clinicians globally recognise that lower‑risk alternatives can support adults who would otherwise continue smoking.
At GINN, we remain committed to:
Evidence‑based harm‑reduction policy
Transparent consumer information
Supporting regulators, clinicians, and retailers with clear, science‑grounded insights
Ensuring adult smokers have access to safer, regulated alternatives
🇱🇧 Our Lebanon fieldwork continues to show the importance of local context, professional guidance, and responsible product standards.
Thank you, @dr.veramatta, for contributing to this essential conversation—and to everyone in Lebanon who welcomed our Director during this important visit. Science first. People first. Harm reduction for all.
